Musée Carnavalet: Art Nouveau Heaven

Musée Carnavalet is situated in two old hotels particuliers in the middle of Marais district. This museum is dedicated to the history of Paris from its origins to modern time, however, it would be appreciated not only by the history lovers and here’s why.

First of all, its absolutely gorgeous garden full of roses and wild flowers where you can sit back and feel the moment.

Second, a stunning collection of Belle Époque impressionist paintings, antique furniture, art nouveau pieces, artifacts… the list goes on and on as the museum collection includes around 600,000 exhibits. For example if you are an art nouveau fan just like me, the complete reconstruction of jewelry boutique by Alphonse Mucha for Fouquet from the year 1900 will definitely blow your mind. Besides all this, the room interiors of Carnavalet are surprisingly different and it turns your visit into exiting journey so you don’t feel the time flying by. Anyway I’d recommend you to have at least 2 hours to spend.

Third, no crowds. This ain’t Louvre, Orsay or Versailles Palace.
And last but not least, the access to the permanent collection is free.
